Type SC Double-Wall panel constructions are rigid preassembled units installed with tongue and groove or flush connections. Panels are available as 2-1/4" and 4-1/4" thick. The acoustic fill is packed under compression and the perforated or solid back sheet protects against settling and harboring of vermin. Solid backed panels provide transmission loss.

Standard Type SC panels are constructed using a minimum of 22 gauge perforated steel and 18 gauge solid sheets. For exterior applications, 20 perforated steel is utilized. Internal stiffeners, trim, and framing are fabricated of 16 gauge steel.

N/A Standard contamination barriers available as options include:
  • Type MC Barrier, a proprietary barrier, membrane contains the acoustical fill and sheds water. It has no impact on sound absorption performance.
  • Type CC Barrier, a glass fiber barrier, contains the acoustical fill without impacting sound absorption performance.
  • Polyethylene, Mylar and Tedlar are used to contain the acoustical fill in Model SF panels as well as to control particulates in controlled environments.
Placing SonoCon Absorption Panels
  • Reduce the number and intensity of multiple reflections that are the source of high background noise levels.
  • Increase intelligibility of conversational speech, enhance telephone usage, and increase acoustical privacy by reducing sound that would be otherwise reflected into adjacent areas.
  • Decrease the overall noise exposure levels which are attributable to distant sources by minimizing the effectiveness of acoustically hard reflective surfaces which otherwise tend to broadcast noise into adjacent areas.
  • Increase safety by reducing noise levels which would otherwise mask warnings.
  • Increase acceptability of the environment for the requirements of its occupants.
Placing SonoCon Absorption Panels
  • Panels should be placed as close to the noise source as practical.
  • For noise control purposes in a fairly symmetrical room, treating about 33% of the room surface area is a practical limit.
  • Panels should be placed near room corners which focus and amplify the reflected energy.
  • If the ceiling is high or the rooms are small, it is better to place more absorption on the walls. Ceiling absorption is most effective if the room is large and the ceiling is low.

SonoCon™ HP Panel Installation

SonoCon HP Panel Installation

N/A Individual SonoCon panels or panel assemblies are quickly installed using continuous Z-trim or Z-brackets. These are fastened to the wall utilizing anchors appropriate to the construction and connected to the panels utilizing self-drilling screws or rivets.

Additional low frequency absorption performance can be achieved by spacing Class SC panels fabricated with a perforated back sheet or Class SF panels away from the wall or ceiling.

N/A Type SF Single-Faced panel constructions are light weight and can be supplied with bagged acoustical fill.

Standard Type SF panels are constructed of 22 gauge perforated steel. Internal framing, stiffeners and retaining straps are fabricated from 18 gauge steel. Where field painting is applicable, the acoustical core is spaced from the interior of the perforated sheet by use of expanded metal or other mesh sheeting.

Type Class Two panels are used for long spans. Fabricated in lengths of up to 40' - 0", they are extremely rigid. Class II panels are also used in free-standing Soundwall applications.

Standard Type Class Two Panels for exterior use are constructed of 18 gauge perforated steel and 16 gauge solid sheets. For interior applications, both perforated sheet and the solid backing are of 20 gauge steel.
